GoalWise.AI ("we", "our", "us") is operated by GoalWise. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the GoalWise.AI mobile application.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

Account Information

• Name and email address (provided during signup)
• Authentication credentials (password hash or Apple Sign-In identifier)

Goals & Habits

• Goals you create and their generated plans
• Habits, including titles, schedules, and frequency
• Habit completion history and progress data

Health Data (optional, with your consent)

• Steps, active energy burned, active minutes
• Sleep duration and quality
• Heart rate (average and resting)
• Workout counts and details

Health data is only collected if you explicitly connect Apple Health / Apple Watch in the app settings. You can disconnect at any time.

Chat Messages

• Conversations with the AI assistant to provide personalized recommendations

Calendar Data (optional)

• Google Calendar events (read-only access) used for scheduling habits around your busy times

Usage Data

• Push notification tokens for delivering reminders
• Busy time blocks you set for habit scheduling
• Trip logs (for residency tracking goals)

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and personalize the GoalWise.AI experience
• To generate AI-powered habit recommendations tailored to your goals
• To create goal plans and habit suggestions using Anthropic's Claude AI service, which processes your goal and habit text
• To track your progress and provide insights
• To send push notifications and reminders you opt into
• To schedule habits around your calendar availability
• To improve our AI recommendations based on your usage patterns

3. Data Storage & Security

• Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Railway (PostgreSQL database)
• All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage
• Passwords are salted and hashed - we never store plain-text passwords
• Access to our servers is restricted and monitored

4. Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services:

• Anthropic Claude AI - For generating goal plans and habit recommendations. Your submitted goal and habit text is sent to Anthropic's API to provide this service.
• Apple Sign-In - For authentication (Apple's privacy policy applies)
• Apple HealthKit - For health data sync (data stays on-device and our servers; not shared with third parties)
• Google Calendar API - For calendar integration (Google's privacy policy applies)
• Expo Push Notifications - For delivering push notifications

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:

• Right to Access - You can export all your data from Settings > Export My Data
• Right to Deletion - You can permanently delete your account and all data from Settings > Delete Account
• Right to Rectification - You can update your profile information within the app
• Right to Data Portability - Your exported data is provided in JSON format
• Right to Withdraw Consent - You can disconnect Apple Health or Google Calendar at any time in Settings

6. Data Retention

• Your data is retained as long as your account is active
• When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers
• Authentication tokens expire automatically (access: 24 hours, refresh: 30 days)

7. Children's Privacy

GoalWise.AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 13, please contact us.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
